These houses are, like much of the housing in St Lucia, squats. These ones are built right on top of a cemetary, directly down the hill from where I was staying in Castries. The tombstones are scattered between the shacks. Perhaps this explains the name of a local gang, "Death Row", whose graffiti you can see in this picture.
